Velcura Overview and Drug Development Strategy

Velcura Therapeutics Inc. is an early-phase biotechnology company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our research focus is human bone homeostasis and novel therapeutics that restore bone health. Our mission is to develop highly differentiated therapies for bone disease — specifically, therapies that demonstrate both anabolic and anti-catabolic activity in a single molecule.

Such therapies would be useful in the treatment of bone diseases where normal bone homeostasis has been disrupted, such as myeloma bone disease, metastatic bone disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoporosis. Our lead compound, VEL-0230, was identified using our core technology platforms that allow the growth of human bone in tissue culture.

Based on our in-vitro investigations, animal models of bone disease, and extensive pre-clinical toxicology evaluations, we believe that VEL-0230 is a safe and effective first-in-class molecule that demonstrates the desired dual-action properties and may function in multiple bone disease indications. Velcura's near-term goal is to enter into research or development collaborations with strategic partners for continued development of VEL-0230 and its related compounds.
